Can difficult engineering projects improve problem-solving?

Some engineering projects do not have an obvious solution, which can make them frustrating at first. While working on a challenging task, I considered do my engineering assignments but decided to break the problem into smaller stages. Testing each idea helped me understand what was working and what needed changing. I found that the mistakes were actually useful learning opportunities.
